Emmerson Mnangagwa

President, Zimbabwe

Emmerson Mnangagwa is the current and third President of Zimbabwe. He was First Vice-President of Zimbabwe from 2014 until November 2017. During his early years, he fled to Zambia with his parents before returning to Zimbabwe and becoming involved in the War of Independence. From 1980 onwards he spent an almost uninterrupted period in government, holding a series of different cabinet positions, in particular those of minister of Justice, Security and Defence.
