Major investments in power production are reshaping the African electricity landscape. While some countries such as Ethiopia and Côte d’Ivoire will quickly run into overcapacity, others such as Nigeria and Tanzania are expected to continue to suffer from a significant power shortage. The development of cross-border networks would allow countries with larger amounts of affordable power to supply those burdened by a shortfall.
