Expert presentation : Making the single market work for African businesses

Voted into existence by 52 African countries, the Continental Free Trade Area (CFTA) sets out to be  a powerful tool to foster growth, employment and industrialization.

However, the debate currently focuses mainly on trade-related issues, but not enough on the underlying reasons for the low level of intra-African trade (less than 20%), such as inadequate infrastructure and the lack of differentiation between national economies.
