Sola Yomi-Ajayi is a highly accomplished banker with a distinguished record in managing corporate and institutional relationships. She has significant experience in structured lending, transaction banking, risk management, financial inclusion, correspondent banking, and operations.
Sola is the CEO of UBA America, the U.S. branch of United Bank for Africa Plc, headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria. With a presence in 20 sub-Saharan African countries, France, the U.K., and the U.S., UBA is the leading sub-Saharan bank with over 20 million customers, 20,000 employees, and 1,000 branches across the region.
As CEO, Sola employs her extensive banking experience to grow UBA’s business and impact in North American markets. She is also responsible for diverse business units across UBA Group, including Global Financial Institutions (GFIs), Embassies, Multilateral, and Development Organizations (EMDOs), and Global Investor Services (GIS).
Sola has a Bachelor of Arts from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, and a Master of Business Administration from the Aberdeen Business School. She has participated in leadership programs at Harvard Business School and Cambridge Judge Business School, and is a fellow of the Chartered Management Institute UK, a member of the Board of Trustees for the Institute of International Banking USA, and a member of the Sub-Saharan Africa Advisory Committee of the U.S. Export-Import Bank.
