Adam KENDALL

Partner and Africa Sustainability Leader, McKinsey & Company
Adam is a Partner in McKinsey’s Nairobi Office. He is a leader in McKinsey’s Africa Public Sector and Social Sector Practices, as well as in the Electric Power and Natural Gas Practice. He has focused on projects in the energy, electricity and resources sectors for over 8 years and is also one of McKinsey’s renewable energy policy experts. Adam brings extensive experience working directly with the private sector and government leaders, including multiple Ministers of Power, Finance, and Mineral Resources (or their equivalents) as well as the executive management teams of private sector investors pursuing opportunities in Africa. He has extensive experience in local manufacturing thanks to its leading role in the FCDO’s flagship Manufacturing in Africa program, for which he contributed to reviewing and assessing the Nigerian solar manufacturing market.
He also supported the Presidency of a West African Government, the West African Agency for Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy, and a DFI (Development Finance Institute) to develop a roadmap for achieving universal access by 2030, through both on- and off-grid mechanisms. Adam brings extensive experience working directly with the private sector and government leaders, including multiple Ministers of Power, Finance, and Mineral Resources (or their equivalents) as well as the executive management teams of private sector investors pursuing opportunities in Africa.
Adam has worked in Africa for over 20 years with extensive work experience in Ethiopia, Nigeria, South Africa, Liberia, Kenya, Ghana, Zambia, and pan-African projects that included the Sahel region.
Adam is fluent in English, French, and Spanish, and has worked extensively in all three languages.
