Igor VAN DEN ESSEN
Regional Managing Director Africa & Europe, APM Terminals SA
During his career, Igor has held a number of leadership positions in HR, Labor Relations and General Management.
His career of almost 30 years has taken him all over the world – from China to Denmark and from Qatar to the Netherlands – and across some of the world’s biggest companies, including Philips and Maersk. In 2016, Igor joined APM Terminals as Head of HR and Labour Relations. In 2019, he was appointed as Head of Terminals in Europe.
In July 2022, Igor became Regional Managing Director for the Africa & Europe region and part of APM Terminals’ executive leadership team. His strong international and multicultural experiences support him to lift standards of excellence in the region, which includes 24 ports and terminals in the Africa & Europe region.
As Regional Managing Director, Igor is responsible for managing the commercial and operational performance of his portfolio – lifting standards for customers, governments, partners and our people in the region.
