Pharma International Area Head - Africa, Roche
Maturin Tchoumi was named Pharma International Area Head – Africa at Roche in January 2023. With more than three decades of experience in the healthcare field, Maturin has a strong track record of collaborating with stakeholders globally to deliver the most essential patient outcomes. SInce starting his role in Africa, Maturin has spearheaded an ambitious initiative to revolutionise breast
cancer in Africa. Maturin and the Roche Africa team are collaborating closely with external stakeholders to combat the alarming reality that 5 in 10 women diagnosed with the disease in sub-Saharan Africa do
not survive. This work includes a wide range of partners, both public and private, that are focusing on radically improving awareness, diagnosis, and treatment for breast cancer in Africa. The joint ambition is to achieve survival rates for breast cancer in Africa that match those that we see in Europe and North
America. Maturin’s career at Roche began as a Market Research Assistant in Côte d’Ivoire, and in the 30 years since, he has led a wide range of teams spanning the globe from India to the Netherlands, South Africa to North America. Throughout his career, he has sought to strengthen partnerships within Roche and
build partnerships externally to create a positive impact for everyone in the healthcare system. His goal is to find new ways of ensuring global healthcare systems are ready for the demands of tomorrow.
