Aguibou LY is a Guinean entrepreneur and the visionary founder and CEO of IBS Group, a trailblazer in the integration of industrial and technological solutions in Guinea and West Africa.
Born in Kamsar, Guinea, Ly began his academic journey at Lycée Ahmadou Matar Mbow, where he earned his baccalaureate. He later pursued higher education in the United States, graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Ly began his professional career in the telecommunications sector in Florida before joining ITC Global, where he served as Regional Director for West Africa. In this role, he was instrumental in expanding the company’s footprint across the region. His strategic leadership contributed significantly to ITC Global’s growth, culminating in its acquisition by Panasonic in 2015.
In 2010, Aguibou Ly founded IBS Group with the mission to deliver world-class Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) services tailored to the needs of Guinea’s growing industrial sector. Under his leadership, IBS Group has become a critical player in the country’s infrastructure and mining development, representing global technology leaders such as Siemens, Cummins, Timken, Motorola Solutions, and Scania.
The company has contributed to landmark projects, including the expansion of the Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée (CBG) and the development of the Simandou iron ore project. IBS Group also partners with international firms to offer integrated industrial solutions across multiple sectors.
Driven by a strong commitment to local development, Ly emphasizes technology transfer, skills development, and capacity building within the organization. This focus has positioned IBS Group as a platform for nurturing a skilled, future-ready workforce in Guinea.
His entrepreneurial achievements have earned him notable accolades, including the J-Award for Best Young Entrepreneur in 2017, and his inclusion in the prestigious Choiseul 100 Africa, which recognizes the continent’s most promising young leaders.
