Luca Vignati took the helm of Eni Upstream in 2022. He is leading Eni’s Upstream business into the just energy transition scenario, overseeing operations in over 30 countries. 

Before that, Luca has covered the role of Head of Sub-Saharan Africa Region, strengthening the regional upstream portfolio and implementing innovative solutions to create new business opportunities in a challenging scenario. He previously led Eni’s Commercial Negotiations, enhancing the transformational approach in valorizing Upstream portfolio through the business combination model.

Luca has also served as EVP Central Asia Region, where he consolidated Eni’s business, positioning and a driving force in promoting local content developments and in-country value creation initiatives.

These roles build on his previous experiences as Managing Director in Turkmenistan, Egypt and Kazakhstan.

Luca joined Eni’s reservoir and production department in 1990 after graduating with honors in Mining Engineering, gained extensive technical competences working in Eni’s operations in Italy and abroad.

He is a keen marathons runner, whenever his work engagements allow.
