Maria Håkansson has been the CEO of Swedfund, the Swedish Development Finance Institution, since 2018. Under her leadership, Swedfund is driving sustainable investments in developing countries, contributing to the 2030 Agenda, with a focus on energy and climate, food systems, financial inclusion, SMEs, and digitalisation. Swedfund also supports public project owners to develop and implement more sustainable and financially viable infrastructure projects.

A business-driven executive, Maria brings extensive experience in finance, M&A, sales, digitalisation and new business models. She has a strong track record of building sustainable businesses and leading global, multicultural teams. 

Prior to Swedfund, Maria held several senior international roles at Ericsson where she worked for 20 years, most recently as Global Head of IoT. She also has experience in the shipping industry and has served on several boards. Currently, she is a member of the Board of Directors of Munters Group. Maria Håkansson holds a Master of Science in Business Administration with a major in Business Control and Accounting from Stockholm University.
