Olivier BUYOYA

Regional Director West Africa, IFC

Mr. Olivier BUYOYA has been the Regional Director for West Africa at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, since November 2022. In this role, he oversees IFC’s strategy and operations across 13 countries in the region, with a focus on supporting private sector development and creating new opportunities. He works closely with the World Bank, development partners, and stakeholders from both the public and private sectors to strengthen IFC’s investment and advisory programs in the region.

A Burundian national, Mr. Buyoya has held several leadership positions during his 15-year career at IFC. Prior to his current appointment, he served as IFC’s Regional Representative for Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Mali, and Niger, where he led the implementation of high-impact development projects and helped mobilize $2 billion in investments for IFC. Before joining IFC, he worked for BNP Paribas Fortis in Brussels, Belgium. He holds a Master’s degree in Management from Reims Management School in France.
