Chakib ALJ

President, CGEM

Born in Casablanca, Mr. Chakib ALJ pursued his academic career in the United States after obtaining his baccalaureate from the Lycée Moulay Driss.
In 1987, he started his business activity by managing the “Société Nouvelle des Moulins du Maghreb”, today a leader in its field. He then launched various companies in his core business, flour milling, in the production of flour and semolina and in the plastics industry.
A seasoned businessman, Mr. ALJ invests in several economic sectors such as poultry farming, livestock feed production, white meat processing and charcuterie production, transport and logistics, hotels and restaurants, and renewable energy.
As the head of an industrial group with several subsidiaries and directly employing more than 2,000 people, he has also been an active member of several federations and professional associations for more than 25 years. As such, he chairs the Fédération Interprofessionnelle des Activités Céréalières (FIAC) and the Fédération des Métiers de la Distribution des Produits de Grande Consommation (TIJARA 2020).
On January 22, 2020, Mr. ALJ was elected by his peers as President of the CGEM, an institution he knows well since he sat on its Board of Directors for 7 years as President of the National Federation of Flour Mills (FNM).
