BOAD: Every day, serving the public interest.

The public service is the backbone of public policy, the guarantor of the public interest, and one of the main drivers of the economic and social development of our States. Through its daily work, it ensures the implementation of public policies, strengthens social cohesion, and promotes improved access to essential services for the population.

As the common development finance institution of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU/UEMOA), the BOAD maintains a privileged partnership with the public administrations of its member states. Built on a shared ambition for progress and sustainable development, this cooperation plays a decisive role in the design and implementation of transformative projects that improve people’s living conditions, particularly in key sectors such as infrastructure, energy, agriculture, healthcare, education, and real estate.

In the face of the profound changes taking place across our continent, a modern, innovative, high-performing, and citizen-focused public service is essential. The digital transformation of public administrations, the continuous strengthening of skills and capacities, the promotion of transparency and accountability, and the improvement of the quality of public services are all critical levers for accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

On the occasion of African Public Service Day, the BOAD pays tribute to the commitment, professionalism, and dedication of the women and men who work every day in the service of the public interest. It reaffirms its determination to support the UEMOA member states in implementing their development policies and programmes, with the shared objective of building a more integrated, more resilient, and more prosperous Africa.
