Selim BORA
Chairman, Summa International Construction Group
Selim Bora is the Chairman of Summa International Construction Group, a diversified multinational company operating across construction, real estate, hospitality, healthcare, energy, and mining. He holds a BSc in Metallurgical Engineering from Middle East Technical University, Ankara, and an MSc in Industrial Engineering from Alfred University, New York.
Founded in 1989 by his father, the late visionary construction leader Mete Bora, Summa quickly grew into one of Turkey’s most prominent international contractors. Selim joined the company in 1993 as Business Development Manager in Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan. By 1995, he was promoted to Regional Manager for the Russian Federation, based in Moscow, and in 1999 assumed the role of Chairman.
Under his leadership, Summa has earned recognition for its innovative, client-focused approach, delivering complex projects on a design-build, turnkey, and operate-transfer basis. The company currently operates in 14 countries across 4 continents, with a particular focus on Sub-Saharan Africa, including Equatorial Guinea, Senegal, Rwanda, Republic of Congo, Niger, Benin, Sierra Leone, Democratic Republic of Congo, Guinea-Bissau, Uganda, and Gabon.
For the past two decades, Summa has been consistently ranked among the ENR Top 225 International Contractors. Beyond construction, the group has become a principal investor in Africa, with significant projects in airports, hotels, convention centers, stadiums, roads, shopping malls, and residential developments, reflecting Selim’s strong belief in the continent’s future.
Selim is also deeply committed to philanthropy. He serves as Chairman of the Akyurt Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to eldercare. Additionally, he is the President of the Turkish-Rwanda Business Council under the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK), a member of the Advisory Board of Richard Attias & Associates, and previously held roles as Deputy President of the Turkish Contractors Association and Board Member of the European International Contractors Association.
His achievements have been widely recognized. In 2018, he received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, and he is a recipient of the National Order of the Rank of Commander from the Republics of Senegal, Niger, and Congo. Fluent in Turkish, English, French, and Russian, Selim Bora embodies a global vision, driving Summa’s continued growth as a trusted partner in transformative international projects.
