Dre. Diaka SIDIBE

A teacher-researcher by profession, Dr Diaka Sidibé was Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation from 26 October 2021 to 19 February 2024, then Minister of Trade, Industry and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises from 13 March 2024. Dr Diaka Sidibé is a Guinean with an exceptional career.

After completing her primary and secondary education in Guinea, she was awarded a scholarship to study in Morocco, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Earth and Universe Sciences in 2009, followed by a master’s degree in Engineering Geology in 2011, before going on to write her doctoral thesis on Geology, the Environment and Natural Hydrological Hazards, as well as post-doctoral work in Morocco, Romania and France.

After her studies, Dr Diaka SIDIBE took on many challenges in the course of her career, ranging from teacher-researcher, geological engineer, manager in the higher education and research system, entrepreneur and active player in educational NGOs and scientific associations, etc.

In October 2019, Dr Diaka Sidibe became the first woman to be appointed Director General of the Institut Supérieur des Mines et Géologie de Boké, before also becoming the first woman Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation.

She is also the recipient of several awards, including an honorary doctorate from the Institut Supérieur des Mines et de la Géologie de Boké, and the African Development Prize (PADEV 2022).
