Ms. Coura Sène is one of West Africa’s leading business executives, with more than 20 years of experience in electronic money, telecommunications, and insurance. She currently serves as Regional Director and Board Member of Wave Digital Finance. Under her leadership, Wave has experienced remarkable growth in Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire and has become an increasingly prominent player across the French-speaking African region. In her role, she oversees business operations, licensing processes, and the overall business environment for Wave’s products and services.

Ms. Sène began her career as a software engineer and later became a project manager in the insurance sector in France, where she worked for over a decade. In 2012, she returned to Senegal to contribute to the country’s growth and innovation ecosystem, becoming a leading figure in Africa’s digital transformation. She has supported numerous organizations in their digitalization efforts through technical advisory services and was among the early advocates of digital financial services as a driver of financial inclusion within the WAEMU (UEMOA) region.

Ms. Sène holds a Master’s degree in Engineering from the prestigious Polytech Lille, University of Lille (France). She is passionate about technology, the digital economy, and the transformative potential of fintechs across the African continent.

She also serves as an Independent Director on the Board of Auchan Sénégal, one of the world’s leading retail groups. A strong advocate for women’s economic empowerment, she actively supports and contributes to initiatives that promote opportunities and inclusion for African women.
