Hanae BEN DRISS

Managing Director, Switch Al Maghrib - SWAM

Hanae Ben Driss is the Managing Director of Switch Al Maghrib (SWAM), Morocco’s national Financial Market Infrastructure (FMI) for interoperable electronic payments, responsible for transaction routing, clearing, and settlement. SWAM operates under the authorization and supervision of Bank Al-Maghrib.

With over 27 years of experience in financial services and payments, she has played a pioneering role in building interoperable payment systems across Africa.

She contributed to the creation of the Centre Monétique Interbancaire (CMI), the first national initiative establishing payment card interoperability in Morocco, enabling a unified merchant acquiring and interbank acceptance framework.

She later led key initiatives in the expansion of Visa’s activities across French-speaking Africa, supporting the implementation of the first regional interoperable payment schemes, including GIM-UEMOA in West Africa, GIMAC in Central Africa, and GIMTEL in Mauritania.

Within HPS Group since 2009, she has held several executive roles, including Deputy Managing Director of HPS Processing, where she contributed to the launch of the Group’s first Processing and SaaS (Solution as a Service) activity, supporting the transformation of HPS into a full-stack payment technology provider.

Today, she drives the development of Morocco’s national payment infrastructure, supporting the country’s ambitions in digital payments, financial inclusion, and innovation.

She holds a Master’s degree from Mohammadia School of Engineering and completed executive education at INSEAD.
