Michelle Umurungi is the Chief Investment Officer at the Rwanda Development Board, where she leads the country’s efforts to attract, retain, and grow strategic investments across key sectors. She plays a central role in shaping Rwanda’s global investment narrative and works closely with international investors, policymakers, and business leaders to unlock opportunities for sustainable economic transformation

Prior to this role, Michelle was Deputy Managing Director and Head of Business Development & Partnerships at Norrsken East Africa, supporting the growth of impact-driven startups across the continent. She also contributed to the development of the Kigali International Financial Centre during her time at Rwanda Finance Ltd. Her international experience includes roles at Amazon and PACCAR, bringing a global perspective to her work

She holds a Master’s degree in International Business from Hult International Business School and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Oklahoma Christian University.
