In September 2023, Mike Sansgter became the Senior Vice President Africa and a member of the Management Committee of Exploration & Production, Africa. He was appointed Managing Director/Chief Executive Total Upstream Companies in Nigeria (now TotalEnergies) and Representative of TotalEnergies Group in Nigeria effective July 1, 2019 and the OPTS Chairman September 2020– September 2021. A member of the Board of Directors of Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG) 2021 – 2023. In his career at TotalEnergies Mr. Sangster has served in various capacity with extensive experience in business and management. Before his appointment as the Managing Director/Chief Executive of TotalEnergies Companies in Nigeria, he was the Senior Vice President, Investor Relations of Total; Managing Director of Total E&P Australia; President & General Manager of Total E&P Thailand; Vice President Economics, Strategy and Planning for Total Exploration & Production; Vice President Business Development & Strategy for Total E&P USA, and Senior International Negotiator. Prior to joining TotalEnergies, Mike qualified as an Electrical Engineer at the University of Aberdeen and was Corporate Development Manager at Scottish Power.
