Régis Bamba

DJAMO is a fintech offering digital financial management services for French-speaking Africa. DJAMO was launched in Côte d’Ivoire in November 2020 by
Régis BAMBA and Hassan BOURGI.

Régis Bamba has been the co-director of fintech Djamo Côte d’Ivoire for the past 4 years. Before moving into digital finance, he spent five years as Product Manager at MTN Côte d’ivoire, where he was involved in the development of mobile financial services and the launch of the first startup accelerator. The launch of MTN’s first startup gas pedal, which saw 10 projects become companies in their own right and receive over 500,000 USD in private investment. He holds a Bachelor Sciences of Computer from Towson University, Baltimore, USA.

Djamo’s mission is to promote financial inclusion in West Africa, where less than 25% of adults have a bank account. To this end, and in collaboration banks, DJAMO offers innovative financial services to consumers and micro-entrepreneurs in our country, such as automated savings management customers to receive and dispose of their wages, local and cross-border payments, and interoperable transfers between and banks and e-money wallets.

DJAMO’s entry into the market has had a significant impact on the financial industry, offering more convenient and accessible alternatives to traditional banking services. In three years, the company has passed the 2 million downloads and is now the leading distributor of bank cards
in Côte d’Ivoire.

DJAMO is the first Côte d’Ivoire startup to join Y Combinator, based in San Francisco. Known as the world’s best incubator, where companies such as Stripe, Airbnb, Dropbox and Wave. In November 2022, DJAMO raised the largest amount of funds ever for a startup in Côte d’Ivoire.

This $14 million investment was led by internationally renowned such as Oikocredit, Partech Africa and Enza Capital.

By 2023, Djamo will employ 165 people (52% women), with an average age of less than 30 years old.
